Hot Hot Hot!

The last few days it's gone from 97 degrees up to 103 (in the shade)! Praise God for the cool cloudy mornings we have here. I've been getting up around 6 am and walking over to the empty quiet school where the toucans like to hang around in the mango trees. Haven't seen one yet but today I saw a beautiful green parrot, a frenzied squirrel climbing the coconut trees and enjoyed the fragrance of the blossoms on an orange tree. It's part prayer and part bird watching time for me.

Worship/prayer last night was excellent. I'm glad I went because you know, the middle of the week and a long day, the excuses just keep entering your mind; "I can just pray at home, I'm tired" etc. But I fought the lazy nonparticipant urge. Hallelujah! The guest pastor from Bermuda had a direct stirring message. The idea of walking away from sin (...go and sin no more... John 8:11), Pastor Gary went on to say, if He has saved you from something DON'T go back to it. We had those 25 and under stand in the middle and prayed for them. I'm getting more comfortable laying hands on and praying for strangers. It was the first time I thought to ask God to give me something specific I could pray for her about. It was also important for me to go to prayer last night to continue to intercede for a friend who lost a loved one.  Life is such a precious precious gift from our Lord and savior.

To cool off with all this heat we go to the river. Toda, about 8 of us tubed down the river. We jumped off a 12ft cliff into the glorious cooling water! So peaceful reclining in the tube and gently making your way down. I was fascinated by the trees and the scenery, trying to take in every detail; the gazillion cocoon type bird's nests, the roots creeping out of the water, the vines hanging from the trees and pulling one them like Tarzan, the wild orchids nestled in the branches, the birds singing and weaving back and forth on each side of the river, cautiously looking at dark branch covered areas where a crocodile might live (seriously) and for about 30 minutes I was on my own river adventure. I can't wait to do it again, and I'll have to bring my camera next time.

Just before I started typing this post I noticed the night sky light up, lightening outlined the clouds and I could see it stretch for what seemed like forever. Surprised me to not have the stormy rain and scary thunder that is the usual recipe for lighting in Seattle. Andrew (electrical/computer engineer) explained that a cold front is moving in and the airs mixing produces lighting etc.  I thought it was so cool and made sure everyone looked at the sky :)

FOOD
Here is one of the 3 burrito pies I made for dinner a few days ago, couldn't find a third pie pan so I used a 9x13 pan and it worked just fine. The three youngest girls had never seen a black olive before and never had sour cream. I love it when people are trying food out for the first time. Needless to say they picked out the olives :) and ate the rest. A first for me was last night making corn bread from scratch and using powdered milk. Seemed fine, I didn't sample the milk before I added it though...hhhhmmm I'll be trying it in the morning.

Thank you for the comments, I enjoy hearing from you :)

God Bless
