Walking In The Word

Pastor Paul Demetriades
Throughout the past two weeks I’ve seen evidence of Pastor Paul Demetriades’ sermon on walking by the Word.
PS 119:133-135 Direct my footsteps according to your word; let no sin rule over me. Redeem me from the oppression of men, that I may obey your precepts. Make your face shine upon your servant and teach me your decrees.
The main point Paul focused on was the outcome of walking by the Word; its two fold, that God blesses us in amazing ways and that strongholds or curses as he put it, are broken.  The second scripture reference Paul gave was the genealogy of Jesus in the first chapter of the book of Matthew. The reason being, these blessings and freedom from curses/strongholds aren’t just for the current believer but for the generations to come, you, your children, your children’s children and so on. Generational sin can stop with us and blessing can go forth instead!
Agapi's Greek Family
The evidence I saw was spending time with the family who has welcomed me into their home. August is the vacationing month for Europeans so family from the states were in town and a sweet as can be baby girl’s first birthday was celebrated- I get the feeling that the Greeks don’t need a birthday to have a celebration but I digress. Of course the birthday party was hosted by Grandma Dora at her house and 4 of her 6 children were there and 10  grandchildren.
Greek Birthday Feast!
She was the first to accept Jesus into her heart and raised her children to know and love the Lord. All 6 of her children are believers of Christ in addition to their spouses. Dora’s teenage grandchildren are believers as well. Three generations serving the Lord for His Kingdom! Simply amazing and I couldn’t have felt more at home- they kept telling me to keep eating “have more, have more”- so sweet. The oldest grandchild Agapi (means love in Greek) is 18 and recently found out she aced her exam and got into the University here in Thessaloniki! When she called her parents to tell them the news her dad answered and had to hand the phone over to her mom because he was overwhelmed with tears. Five minutes before Agapi called he had been praying that she get accepted. Parental joy- yes, generational blessings from our Lord- yes, her phone ringing off the hook the rest of the day with family congratulating her-yes!! The sermon also reminded me of another family where two brothers went as far to change their last name to proclaim that they have chosen Christ and no longer identify with their old selves. And that family has 4 generations of believers. God is good!

God bless,
